This is my first ‘Which is Better’ comparison review

Alright I’m going to compare my three favourite fighting games Dead Or Alive, Street Fighter and Tekken to see which one I think is better one

I will using the thing I called C.P.T.; Character Plot Theme to determined which is better, but seeing they are fighting games I will cover which has the better fighting mechanics

Also will not be reviewing the movies each one had as DOA had only one while Tekken and Street Fighter had more

Now let’s get to it and start off with the Fighting Mechanics of each of the three games:

Street Fighter’s FM are still arcade based and are very simple, but isn’t as free flowing and creative as the other two as it has no combos to it and doesn’t allow you to experiment with the moves and performing the big moves aren’t easy at first

DOA’s FM are likes ST with simple controls, but it is also much easier to perform from the start and the FM is more free flowing too so it allows combos and easy control over the fighting style and they moves are fast based and unlike ST it allows Tag fighting too

Tekken’s FM started off arcade base, but has now evolved into using combos and combination moves to allow a more advanced fighting which makes the fight longer if don’t what to do or quick if you narrowed down the moveset and you can experiment with the moves and their tag fighting is like DOA

So which game I think has the better Fighting Mechanics?

I say Dead Or Alive with it being almost a combo of Street Fighter’s and Tekken’s FM and it is sort off in between the two and I prefer it’s more free flowing Fighting Mechanics

So Dead Or Alive gets the point here

DOA: 1

SF: 0

T: 0

Now time for Characters which game has the better characters so I will mostly be looking at the main characters.

DOA doesn’t has many characters like Street Fighter and Tekken, but sometimes not so much is better as they had developed their protagonist Kasumi’s story well from her starting off as a vengeful shy ninja to a now strong hearted and Ayane has also been given a good story from starting off as a hateful ninja into a caring person meanwhile both Ryu Hayabusa and Hayate having had not much changed done to them as they strictly stick to their duty type of people. Though I do love how they don’t reveal the main antagonist Donavon off straight away as he seems like the villain who prefers working in the shadows and know how to keep control while not being there.

SF has the more famous characters like Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Bison and Akuma, but though they have good back stories to them I don’t feel connected to them like for example Chun Li’s backstory as they never go into great depth about it and only say her father died and that’s all, but Ryu and Ken have a good backstory and they show the friendship between each other well and Ryu’s Dark Hadou story it done well too. Bison and Akuma were the best villains of the game with Akuma being in the shadows waiting to strike for the right moment and Bison is an evil conquer incarnate and is portrayed well, but unfortunately after his turn we were left with Seth who was just a plain rip-off of Bison and a poorly done one as well as I felt no awe or excitement when Seth was on screen. So SF started off good with their characters but they declined with them unfortunately.

Tekken on the other hand is the exact opposite seeing when they started it was just Kazuya wanting to take revenge on his father Heihachi which bad been done before, but when Tekken 2 came they revealed Kasuya’s Devil power then it started getting interesting and soon they added Jun which helped developed the story for Tekken 3 where they started including Jin who had the air of mystery about him as he was the son of both of Kazuya and Jun making a lot of people ask what happened between his parents and soon on a brilliant part of the creators listening to their fans and brought Kazuya that’s when everything shot up for Tekken as the characters were all given much more development and soon Jin’s story to get rid of his Devil gene was started and they wrote it well and Lars being included was interesting too. Now with Tekken 7 been announced and the possibility of Kazuya’s mother Kazumi entering the fray everything keeps getting more interesting.

So point to Tekken for the more developed and well written characters.

DOA: 1

SF: 0

T: 1

Now for the plot of each of the games’ stories.

DOA has the very simple story to start off with than it started becoming more complex and when DOA5 came out the story was really more focused on and made it much more interesting than it was when it started off.

SF on the other had the exact opposite as it started off with a good story and it was so interesting everyone was hooked in on it from the start, but unfortunately the creators were more concern about the characters and making movies that they completely forgot about the story and when Street Fighter 4 came out there was absolutely no effort put into the story at all so unfortunately made it something not to be bothered to look at.

Tekken did the same as DOA with it starting off with a simple storyline for both Tekken 1 and Tekken 2, but when Tekken 3 came out and the debuted Jin and showed who his parents were than it started to get more interesting as the fans wanted to know what had happened his parents which is still a mystery to this day. Soon when Tekken 4 came the story shot up as it started the very popular Jin vs Kazuya rivalry which it along with the plot got more written out in the future games and soon in Tekken 6 with Jin having become evil himself everyone’s attention was focused on the story more now and again with Tekken 7 been announced and the possibility of Kazuya’s mother Kazumi being the one who started the Devil Gene the plot thickens more.

So once again Tekken gets another point for having the better written plot

DOA: 1

SF: 0

T: 2

Now for Theme well sorry to say…Tekken wins again as it was the only game to really focus on the Theme too seeing Street Fighter started with a Theme but lost it and had no Theme now and DOA does have a Theme but it wasn’t really focused on as much as Tekken did with its theme.

So once again Tekken gets the point and wins the comparison

DOA: 1

SF: 0

T: 3

So personally I think Tekken is the superior game with it having the more developed Characters, Plot and Theme.

But I still love Dead Or Alive and Street Fighter seeing they are still some of the best fighting games around with Street Fighter being CAPCOM’s number one game and DOA having its cousin game Ninja Gaiden.

So that’s my ‘Which is Better’ review so let me know what you think and give me suggestions for what next I should do.

Either way I’m BurnedSmackdown and I have burned the hell of this
I do not own any of these games as they are the property of their respectful companies and this is just my personal opinions
