Valentine's

Not many things can surprise Rachel.

But waking up to breakfast in bed certainly was surprising.

Rachel was having a nice peaceful sleep, but she was awoken by her boyfriend kissing her a lot while telling her how much he loved her making her wake giggling slightly.

When she opened her eyes before sitting up she was greeted by a tray of food made by Samuel just for her and she couldn’t help, but smile at that.

“This food looks really good,” She said looking at the nicely cooked eggs and bacon before giving him an amused smirked look. “But it makes me wonder how much you actually cooked it.” She said amused as he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly as it was well known Sam wasn’t the best cook.

“Yeah I might have asked for Dace’s help.” He chuckled as he admitted he’s not a so great cook even back during his married days his own kids didn’t dare to eat his cooking.

“It’s the thought that counts babe.” Rachel said truthfully patting his arm as he sat near her on the bed.

“Thanks darling.” He smiled at her which returned before she grabbed a piece of bacon with her good hand as he robotic one comb through Sam’s hair as he laid his head on her blanket covered lap.

“So what plans have you set up?” She asked looking at him with a amused look as she knew Sam had set up something for them for tonight because it was Valentine’s Day and she might have heard him on his HALO making plans for something.

“Now where’s the fun in that?” He asked back grinning at her smirking one. “I can pull rank on you.” She said playfully challenging him which he simply crossed his arms as he grinned more. “Can’t pull rank on those who aren’t officially in the military.” He pointed out and she only just chuckles before simply replying. “Touché.”

He smirked before sitting up giving a small sigh. “Though I got to head off now because the Admiral has a small job for me and I won’t be back until tonight.”

Rachel pouts a bit after hearing that as she hates the idea that she won’t be able to spend Valentine’s Day with him and luckily the idea of him cheating on her never crossed her mind because of his faithfulness, but still bums her because she gets the day off only to not be able to spend it with him.

“You sure?” She asked in an almost pleading way while pouting and he sighed before leaning in giving her a quick kiss on the forehead which made her smile. “Sorry have to, but trust me tonight you are going to like.” He said smiling into her face which she returned with her own smile before giving him a quick kiss on the lips before replying. “Ok.”

He smiled before giving her a kiss on the lips and this one was long heated one which Rachel eagerly returned and they two stayed tongue locked for a moment before reluctantly pulling away from each other.

“I better start going or Isena will have my head again like that time I smoked in her office.” He said and Rachel chuckled at the memory of how furious the Admiral was when she caught him smoking a cigarette while sitting in her chair and resting his feet on her table. That was one of the only few times that anyone ever heard Isena unleash an unrelenting burst swears and curse words at once.

“I would say stay safe, but this is you and I gave up trying long ago.” She said with a playful smirk and he rolled his eyes at that statement. “Geez thanks babe. Have a little bit of faith in me will ya.” He defended himself while grinning at her. “I stopped having faith in you when I caught you in the infirmary after throwing a dud grenade at a fan at full blast and it shoot it right back into your groin.” She grinned and he blushed slight at that embarrassing memory.

“Thanks babe,” He quietly said defeated, but had a smirk on his face and she patted him on the arm which smirked a bit more before standing up. “Got to head off now. Oh and don’t forget to dress nice because where I’m taking you you’ll see why.” He winked at her and that made her raise a curious eyebrow at that. “Now I really want to know.” She simply said and her chuckled before grabbing his bag that he already packed with his stuff.

“See you later babe.” He said giving her a quick kiss on the cheek which she smiled at that before leaving their house and she sat there listening to him leaving on his bike and not hers.

Something she made sure he understood never well. Never. Touch. Her. Bike.

She soon finished her breakfast before deciding to get out of bed and get dressed which started with her immediately chucking Sam’s shirt off her torso. She still hasn’t given him that shirt back, but she doesn’t want to because it was a nice shirt and she hasn’t heard him ask for it back showing he was fine with it.

After dressing herself she went to the kitchen, but she stopped at the doorway when she saw what Sam left.

The floor was covered with so many boxes of chocolates and they were arranged that it spelt out a message that said the following.

“Dear Babe

I couldn’t think of anything romantic and sweet to say

Also there wasn’t enough room to write something super long

Haha

Either way Happy Valentines Day my smoking hot kickass badass girlfriend ”

Rachel couldn’t help but chuckle at what she read and she knew this was his way of saying ‘Love you’.

“How did I get lucky to get a loveable idiot like you Sammy?” She asked herself smiling at how much Sam has done for her so far to make her happy and whatever he had planned later for her later made her excited.

“Now Sammy what do you have planned for me for tonight?”

When it was time to start heading off Rachel was in the bathroom applying her makeup which she did after already applying her red lipstick to her lips.

From her appearance and how serious she takes her military career one wouldn’t expect her to have feminine traits likes theses, but she doesn’t mind wearing makeup, lipstick, high heels or dresses, obviously traits she got from her mother and she wears earrings, but she decided not to wear some tonight.

Once she was satisfied with her looks she smiled into the mirror before making sure her usual signature ponytail was just right, another trait she got from her mother. She smiled more when she felt her ponytail was just right before adjusting her chosen dress to wear for tonight. She was wearing a dress with skinny straps going over her shoulders connecting at the back and her skirt pooled at her feet while the entire dress was hot pink and was all sparkly while wearing white 2-inch high heels.

She made a sound of approval approving of how she looked and her attire was just right before heading over to the bed to grab her red purse, she didn’t exactly wanted it but the bag was a present from her sister so she decided to keep and use it, and made sure she got the right items of use with her; her HALO, wallet, some extra makeup just in case her current one got ruined and she packed her pistol; you can never be too careful.

She nods at what she packed before grabbing the keys for her father’s truck, he gave her it when she moved away so she brought a piece of home with her, she decided to take that instead of her bike because of her dress. She locked the house as she exited before hopping into the truck and starting it before driving off to the town seeing she and Samuel live away from everyone else as they prefer their privacy something Rachel got from her farmgirl days and Samuel’s mercenary job.

She had the window down as the feeling of the wind rushing past her was a feeling she always liked and even though the sun had set it was still nice relaxing temperature; not hot or cold making it pleasant. She smiled at the sight of the native firefly insects of the planet they were started coming out and their glow made it all peaceful making her smile more.

She soon arrived in the town and it was nice and quiet as most of the busy day activities were done and night activities start rolling in. She soon spots Sam’s bike parked near the park and she pulled up next to his bike parking while doing that she could see Sam sitting on the park fountain. She turned the vehicle off and as she did she noticed the lights in the park were all out which made her curious, but she brushed it off as she got out of the truck and she locked the truck once she was out before heading over to Sam.

Sam was wearing a nice black dress shirt with the sleeves folded up to his elbows, but still wore his usual jeans, which she doesn’t mind seeing it might or might not be because she likes seeing his rear in those tight jeans lol, and he had some good shoes on too.

“Hey babe you made it,” He said standing up and she smiled as he greeted her with a hug that she eagerly returned before he pulled back, but kept her in his embrace. “And looking even hotter in hot pick.” He complimented while grinning his usual smirk which she returned with an amused smirk before replying. “Thanks hunk.”

He grinned even more while she raised a curious eyebrow at why they were at the park and why the lights were off. “I got a feeling you know why the lights are off.” She said looking back at him with a curious look which he simply grins at before clapping his hands together.

Right as he did that all the lights came back on and lit the entire park which was now enriched with a beautiful blue colour which made Rachel’s mouth drop as she was awestruck at the amazing sight. Her attention was drawn away from the lights when Sam gently cupped her chin and she saw a candle lit table on a beautifully made patio near the fountain. Whine, amazingly cooked food and dessert were all on the table set up to drank and eaten.

Rachel was speechless at all she saw and Sam chuckled at that as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “The job I had earlier was me and Isena making sure this was all set up just right just for you babe,” He said smiling as she looked at him with a loving smile before he kisses her forehead. “Happy Valentine’s Day babe.” He said genuinely and she smiled even more before resting her head on his chest.

“Happy Valentine’s Day Sam.”
