The Shoulder There

Disappointment. Shattered. Sorrow.

These emotions were what were running through the head of Alexis who was backstage after her intense Ladder match for the World Heavyweight championship and she tried her damn best; she took a ladder to the face and even a piledriver, but she still got back up and she was so close to reaching the title, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

The sight she was as she was lying on the ground after falling from the ladder seeing the World title in the hands of someone else sent a wave of sadness and disappointment through her.

Alexis now sitting against the wall tears raining down from her eyes as she hugged her knees to her chest as she felt weak and pathetic as she felt she let her father down, she left Griff down and she felt most importantly she left herself down.

Not even being given her Light Heavyweight belt back to her was enough to quell her wave of emotions that were running wild in her as she wanted to achieve that dream of taking the Brass Ring and being the champion of the world show that she was the champion they need, but she can’t.

She was too busy crying and drowning in her sorrow that she didn’t noticed the presence of someone standing in front of her, but a hand touching her shoulder got her attention and she looked up and her eyes widen. “No way…”

Squatting down in front of her was her old tag team partner from the independent circuit and her BFF Lian Young.

“Hey Alexis long time.” Lian greeted smiling at her old friend who she hasn’t seen in years as both Lian and Alexis had got different contracts to two different companies and they couldn’t see each other during the times of their respective worktimes, but when she heard her friend was competing for the World Heavyweight of her company Lian tuned in to watch it and she was cheering for Alexis the entire time, but she was sad to see her friend not achieve her dream and Lian rushed over to where Alexis was and here they are.

Lian saw the title that was next to Alexis on the ground and Lian picked up looking at it as her friend watched her.

“You became the champion of the Light Heavyweight division congrats.” Lian said smiling at the belt than to Alexis who forced a small smile onto her lips.

“Thanks…” Was all that Alexis could muster up as the wave of sorrow kept rushing over her and Lian sighed and sat down in front of her looking at her friend.

“I know how you feel Al,” Lian said as she address Alexis who slumped her shoulders down and her head drops down in shame. “I failed to win the title too,” Lian suddenly said and Alexis snapped her head to look at her surprised seeing Lian was like her so damn determined and skilled that she was a fighter through and through. “And to top it off I suffered a broken shoulder during the match so I was kicked off to the side not given another chance to catch the gold.” Lian said lowly as she rubbed her left shoulder as she remembers hearing that sickening cracking noise when she was doing a springboard crossbody, but her opponent did a dropkick hitting her in mid-air and instead of landing on her back she landed directly on her shoulder at a bad angle and the next thing she knew she was crying out in pain after hearing that noise.

“Those were longest 4 months of my life as I felt I would never be in line for the title ever again and I blew one ever chance to hold the gold, but my sister Gwen told me to never stop believing seeing the one opponent that follows you into and out of the ring is your own self-doubts,” Lian said remembering listening to her sister who too worked for the company that she wrestles at. “And the only way to defeat is to never listen to them and always looks at your skills and say ‘what else can I do to show my strength’ and continue to seek the limit and beyond to always shut the doubts and become stronger,” Lian said smiling at Alexis who was listening intensely to her friend’s words as she continues. “And after my shoulder recovered was back at work pushing myself and not once looked at the negative and stare at the positive to see what I can do to back into the hunt and now look,” Lian said reaching behind her and Alexis widen her eyes as she saw the main title from Lian’s company there in her friend’s hand. “I achieved my dream and I swear that if I ever lose this I’m not going to cry, but going to keep showing my skills and stay in the hunt.” Lian said smiling even more as her friend stared at her taking in her friend’s words and they started working on her as she felt the self-doubt and sadness starting to slowly drift away as she remembered how her father would lose a title best, but not once did he stop and cry he kept pushing himself and he recaptured that belt and if he and Lian could do it…

Alexis suddenly smirked to her friend who saw this and extend her fist out to Alexis who returned the gesture and made her fist tap her friend’s fist.

“Next time I’m in the ring with him,” Alexis started to slowly say than it changed to confident. “Kurt’s ass is mine and I’m taking that belt off him.” Alexis declared confident and Lian smiled.

“Damn straight you will.” Was all Lian said as Alexis was now already planning her next move to back into the World title hunt and this time…she ain’t going to fail.
