Ok everyone it’s time I address the elephant in the room one that people keep bugging me about so here it is…The Rise & Fall of Soul Calibur

First lets start with the very beginning with Soul Blade.

It was a very basic game seeing it was made in the old days where fighting games were kicking off and it was one of the only few “fighting” games that focused around that time period and used weapons and it was very straight forward: beat Cervantes and get Soul Edge and all the characters had all their own reasons for getting it, but the one that would stand out the most was Siegfried who had the actual cannon ending as he found Soul Edge and it turned him into one of the Soul series best villains Nightmare.

Now move onto Soul Calibur 1 and to best honest I never played this game so I don’t know much about it and all I know was Nightmare was the main evil and I think it was Kilik who defeated him.

Moving onto 2 and this where the series really picked up seeing this where they took all the characters and start giving them more highly detailed stories and the plot for the game still simple was enjoyable and focused where it needed to be around Soul Calibur which was with Inferno and from to guess in the next game Nightmare fought him and somehow Siegfried got free of Soul Edge and he plunged Soul Calibur into it breaking it.

Now for Soul Calibur 3 which is arguably the best of the whole series as this where the Siegfried and Nightmare war began and soon more characters came into the series were treated right and were interesting and returning characters were given better stories and the series was at its strongest here and the story was well done, the plot was interesting and the theme was well set and the Soul Calibur was its prime here.

But…that wouldn’t last…

Soul Calibur 4 started the fall of the series as where the characters’ stories were greatly shortened and the story had a lot sucked out of it while theme was hard to pin point and the only thing we knew was Algol created both the Soul swords and that was about it also the game had a strange hue to it that made everything looked watered down and not interesting to look at and the only good thing from the game was the fighting mechanics where they were improved and experimented with, but it looked like the creators were too focused on that to give a damn to the rest of the stuff that made the Soul series.

Soul Calibur 5 is where the series died seeing the biggest problem was with it…THEY CUT OUT TOO MANY PEOPLE AND REPLACED THEM WITH CRAPPY CHARACTERS! Seriously where the fuck is everyone?! Where’s Cassandra?! She would have stopped Terra from taking her niece, she would have trained and taught her nephew right also the most important thing WHY IS SIEGFRIED AND NIGHTMARE KICKED TO THE SIDE LIKE THEY WERE NOTHING?!

This game was the biggest disappointment around, bigger disappointment than Dragon Age 2, the characters are given no back stories and were not introduce properly at all and weren’t interesting at all, the plot had nothing going for it and made no bloody sense at all and the characters spoke so badly that it was like a really bad FanFic and that’s coming from a FanFic writer like me and the theme was so over the place that it couldn’t decide what it wanted to do and it had no fuckin idea what to do.

Not even the better fighting mechanics helped at all seeing the game was so stupid and dumb that it ruined the series badly and so thus it plain SUCKS and to anyone who actually like the game or the new characters in it…You’re not a true fan of the series and you need your head check

So that was the rise and fall of Soul Calibur and dear god it started off so good than it fell into complete crap and if Namco Bandai plan to make another one please it be a reboot of the series and I really hope Tekken 7 doesn’t end up like Soul Calibur 5

Either way I’m BurnedSmackdown and I have burned the hell of this
To :iconthetalon34: now please stop bothering me about Soul Calibur seeing I did my review of it

Soul Blade/Edge is far from a simple straight forward fighting game. The Weapon Master mode; a genre defining addition at the time added so much depth and replay value that just couldn't be touched by any other fighting game on the scene back in the mid 90's. Challenging, time consuming and laced with a very rich storyline that expanded and became more immerse with each chapter/battle. In some instances, as you read through your character of choice's story, it almost seemed as though you were plunged right into the game yourself.

Soul Calibur for the Sega Dreamcast is widely considered one of the greatest fighting games (not to mention, the greatest Soul Calibur game) of all time. The game is so good that many fighting fanatics have purposely bought a Sega Dreamcast just to play Soul Calibur...one of the rare games that were truly a perfect port of it's arcade counterpart. I highly recommend checking it out.

Soul Calibur IV, while not a bad game in itself, focused way too much on the game's graphics and online play. I remember when Soul Calibur III came out, the PS2 community felt cheated that there wouldn't be online play. But, in the end, Namco compensated immensely by providing so many cool and unique offline modes that allowed fans to easily overlook that obstacle.
